Missed the State Meeting? No Worries!

Thanks to Verne Peterson of the Lincoln Square-North Center-Lakeview Greens, we have the highlights for you to see on Youtube.  He has two segments up already!  See below–

When: Saturday, April 18th, 2015, registration at 8:30 – 9:00 a.m.; meeting starts at 9.
Where: Urbana-Champaign Independent Media Center, 202 S. Broadway, Urbana, IL 61801.
What: The membership is the highest decision-making body in the Illinois Green Party, and we gather together at least once a year (often twice) to make decisions on party strategy, platform, officers and more, as well as to learn from one another. Members (and persons interested in joining or learning more about the party) throughout the state are welcome. There is no registration fee. At this meeting, the agenda will include:
            ● Election of officers to our seven-member Executive Committee and representatives to the Green National Committee. We are especially encouraging newer and younger members to volunteer and gain experience! Please review Articles 6 and 7 of our bylaws (http://www.ilgp.org/bylaws) for more information. If you think you might be interested but have questions, please contact ILGP Chair Rich Whitney at richwhitney@frontier.com or Secretary Vito Mastrangelo, at ilgpsecretary@gmail.com.
            ● Approval of a procedure for voting on our new platform. (See draft platform at: http://www.ilgp.org/platform)
            ● For newer members and prospective members especially, Rich Whitney will present The Fierce Urgency of Now: Why Green Political Action is Essential, a vision of, and orientation to, Green Party politics, at 1 p.m.
            ● An informative workshop on using NationBuilder, our powerful new tool that integrates communication, website, database, social media and other functions, all at one site, led by former chair Phil Huckelberry.
            ● Reports on the 2015 elections, current litigation and current legislative priorities in Springfield, as well as an update on the Illinois single-payer healthcare movement from Dr. Anne Scheetz of the Illinois Single Payer Coalition and Physicians for a National Health Program.
The meeting will also include a workshop/discussion on fundraising, led by former GP-US fundraiser Dave Sacks, and discussion on our priorities for the 2016 election cycle.
There will also be a Saturday Night Fundraiser Dinner 6:00-9:00pm, at the same location, with musical entertainment by Jake Schumacher’s Irish Music Quartet. We will have a silent auction — please bring items to donate to help raise funds for the Illinois Green Party! Other details to be announced in our next newsletter.
For those who arrive Friday night, there will be an informal Friday night mixer, at Crane Alley, 115 W. Main Street, Urbana, Illinois. Times to be announced in our next newsletter.
